The Drum Symposium

The Drum Symposium is an annual event at the Univerity of Maryland giving students the opportunity to learn from jazz drumming legends.

2004

The 2004 University of Maryland Drum Set Symposium was a resounding success. Clinics were presented by Carl Allen, Dennis Chambers, and Roy Haynes.

Thanks to the 200 + that attended and to Mike O'Donnel and Mike Sparrow from the School of Music for helping me with logistics.

Special thanks to Zildjian Cymbals and Sticks, Yamaha Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Pro Mark Sticks, Evans Drum Heads, DW Drums, and Pearl Drums for their financial contributions which helped make this event possible.

 


2003

The second annual 2003 University of Maryland Summer Drum Set Symposium was fantastic! Afternoon clinics were given by drumset artists John Riley, Ed Soph and drumming legend Jim Chapin. A free evening performance tribute to Woody Herman was given by the U.S. Army Blues Jazz Band with special guests Soph and Riley.

2002

The 2002 University of Maryland Summer Drum Set Symposium was a terrific success! Afternoon clinics were offered by drumset artists Steve Fidyk, Danny Gottlieb and Joe Morello. Over 60 people were in attendance. A free evening performance was also given by the U.S. Army Blues Jazz Band with Steve Fidyk, Danny Gottlieb and Joe Morello on drums. Sponsored by Drum Workshop, Sabian, Pro-Mark, Remo, Zildjian and Ludwig.
